Mrs. Hunt also was an aerobics instructor at Gold's Gym and Aerobics. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Born in South Bend, she was an insurance clerk for 28 years with Dr. Shelby Cooper and also at Lutheran Hospital since 2005. She was a 1965 graduate of Arlington High School, Indianapolis; received her Associate Degree from International Business College in 1967; and was a past president of Sigma PHI Gamma. She loved being with her family and grandson and enjoyed singing with the church choir and Fort Wayne Festival Choir. She was a member of Beacon Heights Church of the Brethren. He was born Jan. 15, 1947. His father was Veto John Bernikowicz. His mother is Ruth M. (Ford) Bernikowicz of Indianapolis. He married Karen Kirschbaum March 24, 1973, in Indianapolis. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Lisa Ann Bernikowicz of Greenwood; a sister, Jean Quillen of Carmel; a brother, Thomas Bernikowicz of Chicago; and a godson, Derik Eisenreich of Indianapolis. James was employed as recreation director of Indianapolis Guardian's Home for six years; retiring in 1995. He also was vice president of House of Beverages from 1978 to 1983. He was a lifetime member of Sertoma of East Indianapolis, a member of Prospect Lodge 714 F&AM, Murat Shrine and a past member of Scottish Rite. Bradford Lee Blankenship, age 69 of Wayzata, MN surrounded by his family, crossed the finish line on May 2nd, 2017. Preceded in death by parents William and Bea. Brad lived many lives - as a race car driver, pilot, hunter, entrepreneur, and business man. Topping the list of his favorite things was baseball, labradors, an ice cold glass of milk, and "watching his kids succeed." Brad's legacy lives on through his wife Deb, favorite oldest daughter Courtney, favorite twins Harrison and Christina, second favorite Twins the Minnesota Twins, second favorite labrador Pooks, brother David, and many nieces, nephews, brother and sister-in-laws. Michael L. Brodsky
65, of Phoenix, AZ passed away August 1st, 2012 at Mt. Sinai hospital due to heart failure. He was surrounded by family and friends. Michael was born May 1, 1947 in Indianapolis, IN to Abe and Sophie Brodsky.
He attended Arlington High School where he played both baseball and basketball. He then attended Indiana University where he pledged Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity and joined the "Better Boys" an unofficial SAM club. Michael graduated from Emory University Law School in 1973. In 1972 he married Sheryl Radler in Miami, FL. They had a daughter, Jessica, in 1979. After working in the Miami Public Defender's office Michael founded the legal practice Almon and Brodsky P.A. with fellow Emory alum Tom Almon and practiced criminal defense law in Miami for over 20 years. In 1998 Michael moved to Arizona and worked for the Attorney General of Arizona in Phoenix. He married Mai Yahn in 2003. Michael enjoyed golf, basketball, music and travel. He was known for his kindness, intelligence and humor. He is survived by his wife, Mai, his daughter, Jessica, and his brother Gerry, and his wife Meredith and daughter Kate. Joyce (Brown) Kutzavitch
It is with great sadness that I pass along information of the death Joyce Brown Kutzavitch. She passed away April 2, 2017 in Fountain Hills, AZ. She was loved and respected by the many students she taught through her years at Decatur Central High School. Two of those students were with her when she passed away. Below is a facebook post from one of them. "As so many of you saw in an earlier post today former student David Gene Moscrip, his fiancé Jenny Barnes and myself were at her bedside when former Decatur teacher Joyce Kutzavich left this world and was promoted to Heaven. I spent much time with her these past few months. She was a teacher to the end. As her medical power of attorney, I purchased a legal portfolio so that I could keep all of the documents readily available. One night those papers were in disarray, and as I was talking to her trying to shuffle papers and getting them all straight, she looked at me with "that teacher look" and demanded "Stop fidgeting with those papers!" So I did! Earlier in the process, as she was relating various points of business and details of her treatment, she said "I think you should take notes when I talk so that you don't forget anything." So I did! For the past several weeks, as I was sitting at her bedside trying to find out how her day went or if anything needed to be done, I sat there and wrote down everything she said. It just made things go better. There was one thread to our discussions over the last couple of months. We talked about her days at Decatur Central. One of the things she says so many times was "I spent my entire life being a teacher. I would like to think when it's all said and done that I made a difference, that I challenged my students how to think and express themselves."I told her from the depths of my heart "Mrs K, you will never know just how many of us you touched, how many of us you were affected for the entire rest of our lives. You did well, you really did." There will come a day when we can discuss Mayan ruins, and "shoes, and ships, and sealing wax, and cabbages and Kings" again. I will be eternally grateful for being asked to try to return the favor and be there for her in what amounted to be some of her last days. Rest well dear lady, thank you for everything. April 14, 1947 - April 4, 2014 Penny J. (Chaille) Weaver, Age 66, of Northville, passed away peacefully April 4, 2014. She was born April 14, 1947 in Indianapolis, Indiana; daughter of Jack and Joan (nee Edwards) Chaille. Penny was united in marriage to Howard Weaver on November 23, 1983 and they spent 30 loving years together. Penny received a Master Degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan University and a Master Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Oakland University. She also had a Specialist Degree in Clinical Psychology from the Center for Humanistic Studies. In 2005, she became a Medium Missionary through the Chesterfield Seminary. Penny was a hard worker; she had various jobs throughout her life that she enjoyed, among them, Sales Manager for Pontiac Business Institute, Flight Attendant with TWA, Home Economics teacher, and make-up artist, where she was a consultant for CBS. For the past 14 years, Rev. Penny Weaver, Spiritual Advisor was the owner of Penny Weaver, Inc. where she practiced as a therapist and LLP Psychologist, as well as a Reverend, Spiritual Advisor, Spirit Medium Channel and Reader, and Reiki Teacher Master, Sekhem-Seichim Master Teacher, Sekhem (Australian) Teacher, Karuna Master Teacher, Blue Star Celestial Energy Master Teacher, Certified Hypnotherapist, Shaman, and Aura Photographer. Penny authored the book called “Self Mastery” and was often a guest speaker at seminars and organizations, where she would share her vast knowledge and experience. She was a member of First Spiritual Temple in Royal Oak and the Northville Chamber of Commerce. Penny adored her grandchildren. She was always positive and upbeat; she was a good listener who loved helping people. She enjoyed travelling with groups she took to visit sacred sites, such as Sedona, Stonehenge, and Indian Burial sites. She also enjoyed reading and learning new things. Penny is survived by her beloved husband, Howard Weaver; her parents, Jack and Joan Chaille; her step children, Renee (Larry Wright) Weaver-Wright and Scott (Liz) Weaver; her grandchildren, Alison, Evelyn, and Matthew Wright and Parker and Brendan Weaver; her siblings, Rebecca Renner and Andy (Mary) Chaille; her sisters-in-law, Margaret Noble, Bea Caffrey, Barb Weaver, and Betty Sheehan; and her niece and nephew, Amelia Chaille and John Chaille, along with many other nieces and nephews. John Andrew Clemens
John “Andy” Clemens, 70, of Greenwood passed away on June 22, 2017. He was born on September 13, 1946 in Indianapolis, IN. Andy married Marla Alsman Frye on April 27, 2000 in Franklin, IN and she survives. He was an avid Indy car race fan, and attended his 63rd consecutive Indy 500 race. Andy is survived by his wife Marla; children Cosmo and Margaux; step-children Scott (Annemarie) Frye, Emily (Nathan) Pendleton, Daniel Frye; grandchildren Noah, Eden and Bailey. Steve Estabrook
April 9, 1947 - December 6, 2015 It is with heavy heart that I report to you the passing of a good friend and classmate, Steve Estabrook, last Sunday, December 6 here in Indianapolis.
In announcing Steve’s passing, so many, many folks have contacted me sharing memories and wanting to pay respects at his funeral service. However, on Friday, his two children, Libby (New York) and Breck (Houston), returned to Indy to have dinner with more than dozen close friends and no formal services will be held locally. The family plans on a private service in New York in a couple of months before laying Steve to rest at a family plot in Dayton, Ohio.
In high school, many will remember Steve as the quarterback on the football team and as a distinguished baseball player as well. He later graduated with a business degree from Ball State. In work life, Steve held many different positions including ones in real estate franchising, the oil industry, and life insurance investing. He was an avid golfer and played often on the links with former classmates. I ran into Steve myself this summer on the course, and he was so quick to offer up a drink and re-live his round of golf that day. He made a sincere plea that we get together for a round of golf at Pebblebrook - and now I’ll never have that opportunity again. Steve had also been active in years past with our reunion planning team and he was always a fixture with a hearty laugh and many stories at each reunion. Despite Steve’s large presence in life, close friends always called him "Bunny.” I understand that name derived from the Easter Bunny and of course his name, E(a)sta-brook.
Steve is also the 100th known member of the 679 members of our Class of ’65 to pass on. Classmates are welcome to share stories and memories of Steve on our class Facebook site, Arlington H.S. Class of 1965 (63,64 & 66). Bunny, we’ll miss you.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Betty Fair (Danville, IN). He served in the United States Navy as a medical corpsman, and was a member of the United States Navy Basketball Team. An Arlington High School graduate, he attended Purdue University and the University of Florida. He was an avid racing fan, bass angler and volunteer announcer at Marian College sporting events. He was formerly employed at Methodist Hospital as an inhalation therapist, Combined Insurance Company and the United States Postal Service. 1947 - 2016 Michael D. Hackler, 69, of Indianapolis, passed away September 19, 2016. He was born June 8, 1947 in Washington, IN to Raymond Sr. and Norma (Moore) Hackler. Michael received his Bachelors degree from Ball State University. He retired in 2014 from Praxair Surface Technologies as a technician after 19 years.
Michael enjoyed the Indianapolis 500, Colts, grilling, golfing, gardening and was a devoted family man. He also had a love for the ocean. Michael was a member of Greenwood Christian Church. Robert E. "Bob" Hittle
Robert E. "Bob" Hittle passed away at his home April 10, 2012 He was 64. He was in the first graduating class of Arlington High School. Bob graduated from Purdue University in 1969, and was a certified forester. He worked for the Indiana State Highway Department when he graduated as a landscape architect. He later worked for D.E. McGillen as an environmental specialist. Bob always said he was proud of all the design projects he had completed to make Indiana roads better. He retired from American Structure Point in 2009. Bob had been in Boy Scout Troop #1, and later worked with his son's Troop #174. He also was a member of Ducks Unlimited, and the Washington Township Parents' Council. Bob was a member of First Baptist Church, where he also served as a Little League Coach. Bob was always happy to be a part of his son's and daughter's activities as they grew up. He is survived by his wife of nearly 42 years, Sue Hittle, who he grew up with; a daughter, Kristin Marie Hittle; and a son, Kevin Michael Hittle and his wife Katy. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012 at First Baptist Church, 8600 N. College Ave., Indianapolis, with calling for one hour prior to the service. John Charles Hillery June 16, 1947 - December 3, 2017 A celebration of life for John Charles Hillery, 70, of Madison will be at 11 a.m. May 5 at Hanover United Methodist Church in Hanover. He died Dec. 3, 2017, at Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville. He was born June 16, 1947, in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Charles M. and Delores Cooley Hillery. His early life was in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and West Virginia before his family settled in Indianapolis. His life was shaped by the nurturing of his parents and by two educators who helped him to realize and fulfill his future as a photojournalist. While a student at Indianapolis Arlington High School, Mary Benedict encouraged him to look at life through a camera. He pursued his interest in photography at Indiana University, where he and many generations of photojournalists were taught and mentored by Will Counts. Behind his cameras, he photographed and witnessed major news and sports events of his time and quietly took equal pleasure in documenting the infinite beauty of nature and its creatures. He enjoyed sports and photographed some of the great moments of competition in the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, PGA and other major leagues; racing, whether among horses or autos or bikes or boats; and the array of Big 10 sports. He began his professional career at The Herald in Decatur, Illinois. He went to Detroit in 1975 where he remained until 2002, working primarily as a freelance photographer whose images were distributed by wire services and photo agencies and published in newspapers and magazines. For many years, he was part of Ford Motor Co.'s team that set up auto shows and introduced its new models. When he reflected on his most memorable assignments as a photojournalist, he always noted two events early in his career: In April 1974, aboard an Indiana National Guard helicopter, he was among the first to photograph the destruction in southern Indiana from the Super Outbreak of tornadoes. In September 1974 he photographed Evel Knievel's attempt to jump the Snake River Canyon in Idaho. He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Maggie" Craig Hillery; one sister, Pam Ator of Black Mountain, North Carolina; one brother, David Hillery of Annapolis, Maryland; three nieces, one nephew, two great-nieces, two great-nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and by many generations of his four-legged companions. May 11, 1947 - February 4, 2017 Kaye Massena Windle Harper left her earthly environ on February 4, 2017 to be with her Maker. She was born on May 11, 1947 to Ralph and Mary Margaret Massena in rural Medora, Indiana where she spent her early childhood. After attending Washington High School in Indianapolis, she graduated from Arlington High School with the Class of 1965. Kaye was proud of the Massena family name and could trace her heritage to Field Marshall Andre Massena, one of Napolean’s chief army officers. Besides being a homemaker, she made her career as a bookkeeper at Baker & Daniels and later at Greenwald-Sponsel. Never fearing, Kaye loved to fly foot-launched hang gliders and jump from airplanes, once jumping while pregnant. Kaye loved to gain knowledge about all things, buoyed by her constant reading. She loved to crochet, care for her flowers and gardening, and enjoyed the beauty of nature, just “everything from God.” A truly great Christian woman at heart, she was a member of Chapel Rock Christian Church. 1945 - 2011 Timothy W. McIntosh, 66, peacefully passed away on August 21, 2011. Born July 5, 1945, he was raised in Indianapolis by his loving parents, the late Walter A. and W. Pearl (Creviston) McIntosh . Survivors include his loving wife, Marilyn McIntosh, two sons, Walter (Tina); Arthur (Karin) McIntosh, one daughter, Jennifer (Stan) Bergstrom; 7 grandchildren, Scott, John, Shannon, Mariam, Zakkary, Daniel, and Megan; and one brother, Darryl McIntosh. Tim worked in the automotive industry and had a lifelong interest in antique cars. He enjoyed working on his cars and was thankful for his friendships with other enthusiasts. As generous as he was witty, Steven Russell Meyer, 68, died peacefully in his sleep at home on July 8, 2014. He was born July 2, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Chester and Betty Meyer. Russell was a 1965 graduate of Arlington High School in Indianapolis. He went on to enlist in the U.S. Air Force, where he served honorably as a Sergeant from 1964 to 1968. He earned a Good Conduct Medal for exemplary service in Vietnam. Russell's 30-year career in sales with Universal Instruments took him around the world on business. His travels abroad extended to almost every continent. Stateside, he spent time in 49 of 50 states. Only Idaho missed the chance to host this savvy traveler. Russell earned one of Universal's most distinguished awards in 1991, North American Salesman of the Year. Russell is survived by his daughter, Ali Foster; his son, Scott Meyer and their mother, Judy Meyer. Russell was blessed with six granddaughters, Anaka, Liesel, Elliotte, Evelyn, Eleanor and Amelia. October 10, 1946 - March 25, 2015 Richard Carey Morse, 68, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Saint Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. Richard was born October 10, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Charles G. and Vivian V. (Salzmann) Morse. He had one brother, Ray Morse. Richard was a 1965 graduate of Arlington High School. He later graduated from The Wilton School of Cake Decorating in Chicago. From 1971 to 1974 Richard was employed as a registered respiratory therapist in the critical care unit at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He also, during these years, ran a successful cake decorating business. In 1975 Richard went to work as a Houseman for The Westin Hotel in Kansas City. In a short time he trained and became their Banquet Manager. He headed this department for more than thirty years overseeing banquets, catering and major events for The Westin in multiple United States cities, including Kansas City, Chicago, New Orleans, San Francisco, Detroit and Indianapolis. Richard retired from The Westin in 2009. On September 27, 1995, and after a brief courtship, Richard and his partner Paul Hancock began their relationship. Ten years later on September 27, 2005, Richard and Paul were united in a Holy Union Ceremony at Life Journey Church where they have been members since 2004. On March 14, 2015, almost twenty years from the time they met, Richard and Paul were legally wed as husbands in their same church where they joyously celebrated with family and close friends. With great sadness, Richard was admitted to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis one day following their marriage where he remained until his death ten days later. Richard loved entertaining and cooking. He excelled at planning social events, parties and celebrations and did so on many occasions. We will all be sharing stories for years to come from those times. Laughter and fun was always in the mix thanks to Richard. Richard loved to travel and was fortunate to have explored most of the United States, many European Countries and Canada. His journeys from years gone by, his trips with Paul and vacations with friends were favorite moments he mentioned often. Many friends, even strangers, past and present were witness to Richards unending kindness and generosity. Even when it was physically challenging for him he spent many days assisting and providing for others, visiting the sick and lonely, even volunteering his time for children at Indianapolis Public School #54. Richard was always thinking and doing for others. Richard is survived by his husband, Paul J. Hancock of Indianapolis, Indiana; his brother Ray Morse and wife Margie of Boulder,CO; his nephew Brendan Morse, his wife Lori and great-nephew Collin of Denver,CO. ; his niece Allison Malicoat, her husband James and great nieces Sydney and Molly of Lenexa, Kansas; step-daughter Andrea Meneses, her husband Dave and grandchildren Audrina and Landon of New Bedford, Massachusetts; parents-in-law Wayne and June Hancock of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; and sister-in-law Margaret Hancock of Winterset, Iowa; sister-in-law KC Shay, her husband Rodney and their daughters Stephanie and Laura of Greenwood, Arkansas, Mirah Hancock of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Eric Hancock of Little Rock, Arkansas; and pet Garvey. Richard lived his life to the fullest and will be remembered by all for his enormous loving heart, his incredibly boisterous laugher, his kind and generous spirit and his passion for family and friends. Mike was a U.S. Army Veteran. He worked in the food industry for over 40 years, starting from the bottom as a produce handler rising to the position of Vice President of Cubs Foods, Georgia before retiring in 2011. Mike loved working in his yard and he was a student of Civil War history. He enjoyed traveling with Linda to many historical locations. Mike was a God-fearing man who will be missed by all. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Linda R. Owen; children, James M. Owen, Teri D. Ralph E. Randall
Visitation and a memorial service for Ralph E. Randall, 65, Austin, is planned today (Saturday) at the First Baptist Church of Austin. Randall died at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville on Sunday, January 27, 2012 after suffering a major heart attack. An attorney in Scott County since 1974, he was born in Indianapolis on June 27, 1947, to Iola Crawford Randall and the late Paul Randall. He was a 1969 Indiana University graduate, earning a major in history and minoring in political science. That year, he was accepted at the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis, from which he graduated in 1974. He also taught elementary school for Indianapolis Public Schools while attending law school. He married the former Martha "Marty" Rash in 1970. In 1974, he began serving as Chief Deputy Prosecutor under the late Robert Railing, then Scott County Prosecutor. He went into private law practice with the late Alfred "Red" Hays in 1978 and continued in the practice of law since that time, serving as Austin Town Attorney for nearly 25 years until the community became a city. He was also the current legal counsel for the Scott County Regional Sewer District for over 30 years, and attorney for the Austin Redevelopment Commission. He had served his community by being active in many projects of the Austin Lions Club, including creation of Manaugh Memorial Park and renovation of the Austin train depot for which he supplied many of the photos and train memorabilia which decorate its walls. Randall served several terms as president for both the Scottsburg and Austin Lions. He was also a deacon for many years at the First Baptist Church of Austin and taught an adult Sunday School class as well as during vacation Bible schools. He was a member of the Scott County Historical Society and Preservation Alliance Inc. and a supporter of and legal counsel for the Scott County Heritage Center and Museum. Professionally, he was a member of the American Bar Association and the Indiana Bar Association. He had also served on the board of directors of Legal Services of Indiana in the 1970s and 1980s, leaving after serving as its president for two terms. He taught business law and related subjects for Webster University for over 20 years and served in the JAG Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve for three years. Survivors include his wife, Marty; a son, Ryan Paul Randall and wife Andrea of Carmel; two daughters, Megan Randall of Cleves, Ohio, and Meredith Randall of Indianapolis; his mother, Iola Randall of Zionsville; two sisters, Gloria and husband Dr. John Barbour of Carmel and Rita Smith of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews and their children. Dr. K. Douglas Schmidt, 1947-2007. Doug graduated from Arlington High School in 1965, where he was Vice-President of the National Honor Society, and received his Bachelor degree in Zoology from Indiana University in 1970. He then attended Indiana University School of Dentistry, specializing in pediatric dentistry. Dr. Schmidt began his private practice in 1976 and continued for 31 years. Prior to 1976, he served as a 4th grade teacher at IPS School #76 and was a part-time faculty member for Indiana University and was on the Faculty Council. Dr. Schmidt was a member of many professional organizations including the Indianapolis District Dental Society, Indiana Dental and American Dental Associations, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Association of Dental Anesthesiology, American Academy of Developmental Dentistry and Medicine, Indiana University Pediatric Alumni Association, and American Association of Dentistry for the Disabled. He also was involved in politics, where he served as a delegate to the Republican State Convention in 2000. Known as "The Guru," Doug was a tireless and selfless proponent of the benefits of running as a part of a healthy lifestyle. He lived by the motto and inspired those around him to "be the best they could be" in running and in life. As a result of his inspiring lifestyle, he was a recipient of the WRTV Channel 6 Leadership Award for his involvement in the mentoring of young runners. He was co-founder and President of the Indiana All-Star Running Club and founder of the Indiana Middle School Cross Country Championships. He also conducted an on-going "off season" club for distance training and conditioning. Doug sponsored numerous USA Track & Field, Junior Olympic, State, Regional and National Individual and Team Champions. He was also a generous benefactor of both Butler and Indiana University's Track and Cross Country programs. Susan Travis Lapenta LeGallee February 4, 1947 - April 10, 2018
Our dear Susie departed this world on April 10 to join her loved ones and her dear Savior in heaven. Susie was born on February 4, 1947 in Indianapolis, the daughter of Paul and June Travis. She passed away following a brief bout with cancer at her residence in Lake Forest, California. She was a 1965 Indianapolis Arlington High school graduate and assisted their reunion team for over 30 years, in charge of locating missing alums of the class. In that process, so many of the 1963 through 67 alumni came to love Susan for her tireless work, thoughtful kindness and her sparkle and untiring energy. She established a Facebook group for all of those alums and encouraged their posts about friendships and life. A memory page on that very Facebook account today offers so many beautiful eulogies for Susie’s caring ways. During her career, Susie worked for many years in real estate escrow processing. She loved the simple and beautiful things in life like a special glass of wine with friends, watching the sunset over Balboa Island, and sharing joys and laughter from her gracious sense of humor. But most of all she loved her family. Her dear husband, Robert Legallee, preceded her in death. Susan leaves a close-knit family behind that includes her daughter Elizabeth (Beth) Lapenta, and son, John Lapenta; two grandchildren, Grace Lapenta and Vincent Lapenta; and sisters Nancy Sehnert and Sally Alger.

From 1987 unto 1995, Pastor Welmer served as Senior Pastor of St. John Lutheran Church in New Orleans, La. Pastor Welmer was installed as Senior Pastor of Epiphany Lutheran Church, Houston, Texas on June 25, 1995. Pastor Welmer served the church in various capacities as Circuit Counselor, Member of the Southern District Board of Directors, Chairman of the Southern District Missions Committee and Personnel Committee. Cheryl Darlene Sistevaris (Blondie)
Cheryl Darlene Sistevaris (Blondie), 70, Westfield, passed away Sunday August 26, 2018. She was born in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. She lived her childhood years in Kansas and moved to Indianapolis and graduated from Arlington High School. Cheryl worked at Aetna Insurance and retired in 1997. She was a prolific dancer and competed at a National level in Las Vegas as a young adult and also competed in Ballroom Dancing in the Midwest. Her favorite trips were with Kiros to see Broadway shows in New York and the traveling all over the world exploring as many beaches as they could find. Cheryl loved going out to dinner with friends and laughing all night long. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Surviving are her husband of 26 years, Kiros Sistevaris, her son Jonathan Saksons, her beloved grandson, Aidan Saksons, and her Aunt Helen and Uncle Paul Dowden of Carmel, IN. Her loving nieces and nephews Anastasia, Ellie, Lauren, Madison, Spencer, Sophia, Ariana & Alexandros Sistevaris. Ryan Ward Holly
January 29, 1947 - August 29, 2018 Ryan W. Holly (DOB 01/29/47) passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bonnie, his daughter Wendy, his son Travis, his granddaughter Payton, and his grandson Nolan, along with his younger sisters Claudia and Jennifer. Ryan was proud to have served in the Marine Corps in Crash, Fire, and Rescue with Marine Air Wing at El Toro Marine Air Station and Santa Ana Air Facility California. He was also selected to serve in Quito Ecuador as a Marine Guard for the American Embassy. He achieved the rank of Sergeant. Ryan then worked in Route Sales for Wonder Bread for many years. In his spare time Ryan enjoyed being a ham radio operator, contacting his former classmates for Arlington High School reunions, and contributing to the Find-A-Grave website where he logged countless hours collecting and documenting gravesite information. John Joseph Toth
February 19, 1947 - November 14, 2018 On November 14, 2018, John Joseph Toth passed away at the age of 71 at St. Luke's Hospital. John was born February 19, 1947 in Washington, DC to Dorothy and Joseph Toth. His family moved to Indiana while he was young, where he had fond memories of an idyllic childhood growing up in a small Midwestern town. After graduating from high school in 1965, John joined the Air Force. While stationed in Mountain Home, he met Della Tulloch. After he was stationed in Mountain Home, he served a tour of duty in Saigon, Viet Nam. After returning from Viet Nam, he married Della, on November 16, 1968. In 1971, John and Della moved back to Idaho from Indiana. John worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over 31 years and retired in 2002. John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Della; children, Katie (Jamie Harrington) and Joshua; grandchildren; Emma and Erin Harrington; brothers; David and Jim of Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews. John will be remembered by those who knew him for a great sense of humor and ability to add quick witted commentary to a conversation. He will also be remembered for his love of Christmas. John displayed a spectacular collection of 41 Christmas trees throughout his home over the holidays. He could tell you the story about each and every one of the thousands of ornaments he displayed. For those of us who were lucky to witness it, it was a sight to behold. Services will be held Friday, November 23, 2018 at 1:00 pm at The Cathedral of the Rockies, 717 N. 11th St. Boise, ID 83702. September 17, 1947 - March 3, 2017 Julie joined our family on 9/17/1947 in Grand Rapids. She learned all things well, and was an outstanding student during her schooling years, including college and some very advanced training during her several years in the U.S. Air Force. She also attended Weston School of theology at Cambridge, Mass, where she received a Master of Divinity degree.She sang in the Tanglewood Chorus during her east coast years, and was a complete computer guru as well. Julie was found in her bed on March 3, 2017; with the TV on, a book in her lap and snacks at her side. What a way to go. She joins her parents Richard and Evelyn, all her grandparents, her sister Virginia, and all of her cousins except Marolin Bellefleur. Also surviving is her brother David (Judy); brother-in-law Ted Fowle, many nieces and nephews and extended family members, plus many close friends including especially Karen Turner. Julie specified cremation, which has taken place, and no services. She will be laid to rest in Croton Cemetery on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1:00pm. |

Died, February 24, 2019 David C. Kendall, 72, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully with his children by his side, on February 24, 2019. He graduated from Arlington High School David was drafted in to the US Army and served during the Vietnam War. He was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for many, many years; working out of the Lawrence and Nora Branch. He retired in 2009. David volunteered his time as a swimming official for the Warren Aquatics Club, always there supporting his granddaughters. He also was a coach of Bel East and Pendleton Little Leagues. David stayed young by keeping up with his 4 grandchildren. He was “sports of all sorts” fan and would attend any game of anyone who shared their schedules. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle “Shelly” (Steve) Shuffitt; his son, Michael (John Gazda) Kendall; step-daughter, Shonda (Tom) Moore; 2 granddaughters, Allison and Sara Shuffitt; 2 grandsons, Jordan Dick and Sam Moore; siblings, Steve Kendall, Dick Kendall, Patti (John) Bucholtz, and Nancy (Jim) Rones; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Frank Kendall Jr. and Helen Louise Kendall; and grandson, Josh Shuffitt. A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Indiana Funeral Care, Harry W Moore Chapel. She was born in Stanford, KY on October 4, 1946 to the late James C. Watson and the late Frances Bastin Watson. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Moreland, KY. Susann enjoyed gardening, loved her flowers and her love for her boys and their music was unwavering. STEPHEN D. "Bud" WEBER
Died: September 7, 2018 It is with great sadness that the family of Stephen "Bud" D. Weber announces his sudden death on September 7th, 2018 at the age of 71. Bud was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. Bud moved to California with his wife Mickey and two-step children (Dena and Kristie) in 1971. In 1972, his son Jason Weber was added to the family and they lived in Southern California for approximately 10 years. In 1981, he followed his dream to live in Northern California and experience the beautiful forests and rivers of Northern California. Bud was a volunteer fireman for the Salyer Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a school bus driver for the Klamath/Trinity Joint Unified School District. He was an avid lover of birds and knowledge. He spent his life lovingly caring for his tropical birds and any other stray animal that ventured his way. He is survived by his son, Jason Weber, and his four grandchildren (Justin, Alden, Jadalyn, and Brielle). Step-daughters, Kristie Blackman and Dena McCullough as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. |

Died September 11, 2019 Michael W. Neal was born October 18, 1946 in St. Louis. His wife of 43 years, Kay, advised that he passed away September 11, 2019 after suffering from an aggressive form of brain cancer which had been diagnosed in July. He and Kay had had the opportunity to enjoy but a few months of his retirement to the Carolinas where Mike had planned on playing golf every day for many years. Classmates at the 2019 Arlington reunion were able to sign a "get-well" poster for Mike. Kay said he treasured every comment, which was the last Mike knew of his AHS friends. Mike graduated from Dartmouth College 1969 and the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth in 1970. He retired twice, First from Eli Lilly and Company in 2000 after 29 years various Treasury,International and Elizabeth Arden finance and marketing positions, and second from Emerson Electric in 2013 after 14 years as VP of Investments. He formerly served as Director, Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church USA and as of 2016 was Investment Committee Advisor for Missouri Foundation of Health. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28th, 10:00 AM visitation and 11:00AM service at Second Presbyterian Church, 7700 N Meridian in Indy. |

She had been an administrative assistant for the Locke-Reynolds Law Firm and had been a dedicated volunteer for Amazing Grace Ministries in Indianapolis. Her husband Ronald Buckrop preceded her in death. Dr. Jan Holly
1948-2020 Dr. Jan Holly, who spent a lifetime sharing her passion for classical music and her limitless knowledge of the topic to thousands of college students, died on March 4, 2020, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was 72. Professor Emerita Holly was awarded a Ph.D. in musicology from the University of Maryland and taught graduate courses there in music research and scholarly writing. She also held a Master of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Arts in piano performance from Ball State University, in Indiana. She was a full professor of music and continuously served for 30 years as music program manager at Frederick Community College (FCC) in Frederick, Maryland, where she was responsible for building the curriculum and staff from nearly nothing to a thriving program when she retired in 2014. She served as department chair for Communications, Humanities and Arts at FCC from 2006-2010. A recognized leader in higher education in the arts, she was appointed in 2011-12 to a Middle States Commission on Higher Education Accreditation Team that evaluated the State University of New York, Potsdam, and the Crane School of Music. A student of the Golandsky/Taubman piano technique in the Philadelphia studio of concert pianist and pedagogue Robert Durso, she was admitted in 2008 to the Golandsky Institute’s Piano Teacher Participation Program. A practice assistant at the Golandsky International Symposium, held each summer at Princeton University, she was invited to serve as examiner for a Ph.D. dissertation on the Taubman Technique. Dr. Holly maintained a private piano studio specializing in the training of beginning, intermediate, and early advanced adult students. After retiring to Sanibel, she continued to teach online courses in music history/appreciation, world music, and American popular music. She was an organist for St. Michael and All Angels Church on Sanibel, where she also sang in the choir. She carved out a second career as a writer for local publications, and as a public relations consultant. She was a member of the board of directors of the Committee of the Islands and served on the BIG ARTS Classical Music and Classical Music Scholarship committees. She was an avid bicyclist and tennis player, and she loved to take long walks on the Sanibel beaches. Dr. Holly was preceded in death by her father, John Weaver Holly; and her mother, Mary Holmes Holly. She is survived by her sisters, Judith Workman (Dick) and Susan Holly (Mark Twombly); her niece, Jennifer Lessinger (Ozzie); her nephews, Michael Workman (Beth) and James Twombly Holly; her great-nephews, Sam and Gus Lessinger; and great-niece, Sadie Lessinger. A Celebration of Life is planned at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church on Sanibel island for a future date to be determined as soon as possible once it is safe to have a public event. Larry David Bledsoe
July 6, 1947 - August 19, 2020 Larry David Bledsoe 73, of Zionsville, passed away August 19, 2020. Larry was born on July 6, 1947 in Indianapolis, Indiana as the son of Uhl “Bill” and Betty Jane Bledsoe. After graduating high school, Larry joined the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War as the crew chief on a CH-47 Chinook helicopter. After the war Larry went on to attend Purdue University where he received an associate degree in computer science. It was also after the war when he married the love of his life, Norma Nixon. The two were married in 1971 and would be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this January. Larry was then offered a job with Citizens Gas where he worked his way up to Manager of Gas Control before his retirement. Larry was the type of man that never met a stranger. He had numerous friends and loved his family dearly. He had a great sense of humor, was always quick with a joke and great commentary. Larry was an avid reader and never passed up the opportunity to purchase a new book. Larry not only had a love for people but also a huge love for animals, especially dogs. His greatest hobby and interest, though, was his love for cars and racing. Larry was always known for having the “cool” car. Ever since he was old enough to drive his vehicle was something he took much pride in, including his blue Corvette that he still has. He was an avid follower of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt. He enjoyed the Indianapolis 500 and he attended over 40 races. Larry also was a drag racer in his younger years, you could say that fast cars was in his blood. Larry is survived by his wife, Norma Bledsoe; daughter, Cindy (Hunter) Austin; son, Aaron Bledsoe; granddaughter, Molly; grandson, Collin; sister, Lisa (Mike) Drew; nephews: Spencer, Joshua, Ryan; and niece, Trisha. Rita Sizemore Hassell
Died November 26, 2020 It is with great sorrow that I write this obituary for one of our classmates, Rita Sizemore Hassell, who passed away this morning, November 26, 2020, Thanksgiving Day, at a hospital in Kansas City near her former home in Belton, MO. Rita had shared with me there will not be an obituary notice in the newspaper, so she had always asked that when the time came, that I write one for her to be posted on our Arlington website. I could simply say that Rita left behind three wonderful children, Robyn, Holly and Scott and five grandchildren and that she attended Baptist Theological Seminary. Most obituaries would stop there. But those few words don’t begin to describe Rita and her incredible personal battle for life and sustenance. That’s the story her obituary deserves to tell of her. You should know that I never met Rita in high school nor in our 55 years since we left Arlington. Yet I feel I know her better than I do my own family – so I willingly compose the obituary she asked me to write. Many of you know that I enjoy a role in my life as a Stephen Minister. Stephen Ministry is a national non-denominational organization that trains lay leaders to be care-givers to those who are battling life’s issues. When Rita first came to me hoping to find a way to attend our class reunion in 2017, I learned of her story and felt compelled to adopt her as a Stephen Ministry client. Unlike so many of us reading this obituary, Rita had not enjoyed a lifetime of pleasantries and good health. No, her life was one of pain and suffering, troubles and torment, agony and anguish, despair and distress. When she first contacted me, she was in need of help to recover her automobile that had been impounded for back property taxes. Without her auto, and all alone in life, she had no means of transportation to get to her many doctor visits, fill her prescriptions, get her groceries, etc. I launched a Go Fund Me campaign for Rita and our classmates contributed over $3500 to get her going once again. Many of you were generous donors – I know Rita would thank you once again, and I certainly do as well. That blessing was short-lived. Over the next several months and with many emergency hospital visits, the diabetes that plagued her health grew progressively worse and was ravaging her body. Very overweight, walking even with assistance soon became a chore and by early 2019, she simply could no longer walk at all. Glaucoma was consuming her eyesight and all of the arrangements I was making with local doctors were failing because we couldn’t get a soul to stay with her following surgery. She lived alone in a mobile home and had no local friends to call upon for help. With her diabetes worsening, she soon lost control of her bodily functions and with that came all sorts of serious hygiene problems. Complicating her conditions, her three children were estranged and wanted no part of caring for her, they had issues and families of their own to tend to. I know this because I worked countless hours to bring the family back together. Her church abandoned her, they had no one who wanted to visit Rita’s trailer because of the hygiene issues. I know because I spent time pleading with them for support. Rita’s health worsened, she often didn’t have money nor access to purchase her insulin and other meds. I know because I battled Kansas officials who denied the many Medicaid applications I prepared for her. She suffered unsurprisingly from depression. I know because I fought the system to get her psychiatric care. For me, this went beyond the bounds of Stephen Ministry because I became her life support system from 500 miles away. I have so many stories of the last three years of Rita’s life that I could write a book. I encountered dozens and dozens of wonderful human beings who wanted to help and often provided such great care for her – social workers, emergency technicians and doctors and nurses at probably 10 different hospitals. But always – always – the system failed her. I spoke with Rita nearly every day for three years, often long conversations as we tried to coordinate life for her. While that was indeed often a burden that resulted in more frustrations than victories, I know that in those many phone calls, I captured the essence of a woman that I can write an obituary for. And here's the most important part of her obituary, the part Rita would want most to read: Rita was an incredible human being. She never had the luxuries so many of us enjoy nor the health that most of us retain. And though mental depression racked her mind, she was always a gentle, humble soul who NEVER gave up on life or her God. She entrusted her life to her Creator and never complained of injustices nor her misfortunes. She always had a smiling demeanor over the phone and cherished the support I was able to give. We often prayed together and read daily devotionals that provided her with such good counsel. She was very independent, refusing nursing home assistance until the end, mistakenly confident that she could care for herself. She had a particular talent for engaging others in the hospitals -- patients, nurses, janitors, -- about their faith. She also loved her Arlington classmates and was adamant that she was going to become healthy enough to attend our next reunion. She didn’t have wealth, she didn’t didn’t have health, but she certainly had love for all mankind -- and her Arlington classmates. In June, over Rita’s objections, I finally beat the system. I worked with one of the hospitals to get her legally assigned to guardianship to place her in a nursing home. My elation for her good fortune was short-lived. Now, just five months later, Rita becomes another victim among the myriads of nursing home COVID deaths. Once again, the system failed her. Her hospital was out of ICU beds to get her the necessary intubation she needed. She passed somewhat peacefully this morning with oxygen support. …...but the good news, and I saved this for last. Those three estranged children? Over the course of the last year, in my communicating Rita’s issues and the developments with each of them, one-by-one they had all returned to “Mom.” Once past sins were buried, each of them were there to help to carry the load in these final months. I got the phone call this morning at 5AM from the hospital. One daughter was there and the other two were on Facetime. One daughter, a concert violinist, played her violin for Rita and nurses were able to hold a phone for her as the children prayed with her. And just before they removed life support to let her go peacefully, Rita uttered her very last words to them, “I love you.” Seeing and talking to those children with their newfound and boundless love – and now an unconditional love -- for their dying Mom – that is my obituary for Rita. Rita, your persistence was truly an inspiration for me and I truly admire you for that. At last, the diabetes and the depression and the many other maladies that plagued you in this life are no more, you’re in a much better place with your Maker. God bless you. Bruce was born May 13, 1947, in Indianapolis, IN, to Robert and Elizabeth (Keurst) Ferguson. He leaves behind two children: Tonya (Aaron) Jane Anderson and Richard Brian Ferguson; brother-in-law, Jerry Stokes; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. February 21, 1947 - August 28, 2021 Bellingham, Washington - After a valiant, year-long battle with a rare cancer, Barbara Colleen (Neff) Richter, age 74, of Bellevue, WA, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2021, with her daughter at her bedside in Bellingham, Washington. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Richard and Myrtle (Armstrong) Neff, Barbara's birth to Irish war bride Myrtle and U.S. Air Force officer Richard made the Indianapolis Star with the caption: "Sure a little bit of Heaven is wee Barbara Colleen Neff." She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Carter) Turk, sister Susan (Kurt) Glaser, brother Bruce (Angela) Neff; numerous nieces and nephews, and her two grandchildren, Taylor and Talus Turk. She was preceded in death by her parents. Barbara's happy childhood was spent in Indianapolis, graduating Arlington High School in 1965. Plans to attend university were put on hold due to a brief marriage and the arrival of Barbara's only child on her own 20th birthday. As a single mother, Barbara attended Indiana University graduating in 1976 from dental hygiene school. There she met her 2nd husband, Neville Richter. The two resettled in Washington, lured by its majestic mountain ranges, and launched their dental careers. Barbara's profession as a hygienist spanned from 1976-2020. Even in the face of a global pandemic, she planned to return to hygiene outfitted with custom PPE gear in May 2020. Her devotion and care for others was unwavering. Barbara's lifestyle was the epitome of active. Over the years, she traveled the world extensively via road bike, kayak, and inline-skates; paddled deep into the remote Gulf Islands of Canada, and traversed miles of the Olympic and Cascade Mountain ranges. With a simple goal to improve bone density, Barbara began weight lifting in her early 40's, winning numerous "ugly trophies" (her name for them) as a competitive bodybuilder. With 110% dedication, Barbara put her mind and heart into any endeavor. In addition, she was a competitive swimmer in high school, enjoyed snow, cross country and water skiing; yoga, decorating, sewing, quilting, bird-watching and reading. And for those lucky enough to be invited to Barbara's table, no dish was too difficult or off limits in her kitchen. She would lovingly plan, prepare, and present a culinary delight for the senses, resulting in not only a sumptuous meal, but a visual work of art. But Barbara's most preferred/favorite activity of all was spending time with her family and friends, whom she deeply loved and cherished… especially as Noni to her grandchildren and grand-dog, Woody. We hold you close within our hearts and there you will remain, to walk and guide us through our lives, until we meet again." Johnny Levert McWilliams
Died Friday, April 1, 2022 Johnny Levert McWilliams, a resident of Dadeville, AL, passed away at Compassus Bethany Hospice Hospital on Friday, April 1, 2022. He was 75 years old. He is survived by his wife, Debbie McWilliams, his daughter Nanci McWilliams, his two sisters, Kathy Kimbrough (Jim) and Sandra Arthur (Kevin), plus numerous cousins and many other family members, plus his loving family dogs, Emma Lou and Ditto.
Services will be held on Saturday May 7, 2022. Visitation will be in Talladega, AL at Usrey Funeral Home from 11am-12pm, followed by a memorial service at 12:00pm. Died: July 21, 2022 Peoria, AZ — Newman Durell died July 21,2022 after a long illness surrounded by family. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Newman and Dotie Durell and his brother-in-law, Tom Atherton. He was born in Nashua, New Hampshire in 1947, but the family soon had a job-related move to Iowa where his sister was born. The family then moved to Indianapolis, IN. Newman lived in Indiana until he married. Newman attended Arlington High School. He was a trombone player with both the school jazz and marching bands. A highlight of his musical experience was forming a jazz trio and playing with Doc Severinsen. Newman went to Indiana State University where he earned a BS degree in political science. He met his future wife, Milsa (AKA "Charlie") in 1966 and they married in 1970. Newman was hired by the Bureau of Indian Affairs to begin his 36 years as a guidance counselor. He worked at a Navaho elementary boarding school in Chinle, Arizona for three years. Son Christopher arrived in November 1970 and son Sean arrived in 1973 as the family was moving to Newman's next position in New London, New Hampshire with the Kearsarge Reg. School District. While at Kearsarge, he attended the University of Maine and earned a M.Ed. in Guidance in 1974. He was in the Elementary school only a few years and then moved into the junior high school level until his retirement in 2006. Newman's greatest joys were his sons, Daughter-in-Laws, and four wonderful granddaughters. He loved being with his family and watching the girls' involvement in their athletic/arts and interests. Beyond family, his love was coaching girls' sports: soccer, basketball, softball and refereeing games too. He coached many players who continued playing beyond junior high and high school. He also ran four marathons! Newman is survived by his wife of 52 years, Milsa, son Christopher and his wife, Brigit; son Sean and his wife, Marianne; granddaughters Ani Sophia, and Katy in Glendale, AZ and Melody and Abby in Bow, NH; sister Linda Atherton in Bedford, NH; three nephews: Tom, Dan, and Matthew and their families; step-sister Penny Abbott and her husband and family; also many cousins. Newman will be interned at Elkins Cemetery as his beloved New Hampshire has called him home. Details regarding a celebration of Newman's life will be announced. Chadwick Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements. |

Thomas William Blunk
Died: Friday, March 18, 2022, Thomas William Blunk,74, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Emory/St. Joseph's Hospital with his loving wife by his side. Tom was born on February 4, 1948, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is survived by his wife Susan Drew Blunk and his children, James William Blunk and Sara Elizabeth (Richard) Franka, and their children, Karla, Lucas, and Jacob. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Audra Blunk. Tom graduated from Miami University, Miami, Ohio, in 1970 where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He also earned a degree in 1979 from Butler University's MBA program in Indianapolis, Indiana. Tom was a member of the Mensa Society. He worked as a health plan management consultant for local and national companies until his retirement in 2002. He moved from Indianapolis to Atlanta in 1978. Tom generously volunteered for his son's Boy Scout troop, the Pope High School Band Parent Association (committees and treasurer), and several neighborhood committees and boards. Tom had a musical talent displayed by singing with the Immaculate Heart of Mary choir, the Kennesaw University Community & Alumni Choir, and the Michael O'Neal Singers. He loved playing the guitar and piano. He enjoyed playing tennis, water volleyball, and white-water rafting. Tom was a voracious reader and also enjoyed his chosen hobby of woodworking. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022, from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Lakeside Funeral Home located at 121 Claremore Drive, Woodstock, GA.
